This is political correctness going too far! One Texas elementary school has banned parents from walking their children to and from school. And this school isn’t messing around–parents who violate the school’s policy will be arrested.
“[The principle is] threatening to arrest people,” mother Wendy Jarman says. “This has happened to many parents. They have been cited. They have been threatened, if they step one foot on school property, they will be arrested and charged with who knows what.”
Jarman has since pulled her children from the elementary school.
Yes, this is serious.
The outrageous policy was in the works since September when the principle Holly Ray decided it was unsafe for parents and children to walk from their nearby neighborhoods to the school. She’s even enlisted help from local law enforcement to uphold the rigid policy.
“Mrs. Ray’s policy is implying that a parent doesn’t have the ability or the capability to decide what is safest for their children and that the school district does,” parent Frank Young says. He is just one of the parent who’s been warned for walking his children home.
“The most toxic thing we could do for our kids is not fight for the justice,” Young says. He’s since pulled his children from the school as well.
With the new policy in place car lines to pick up take an hour at least and many children are forced to take the bus–even if they live within walking distance.
