Robert De Niro is trying to become a real-life gangster by tossing out threats to the President of the United States!
The Goodfellas star got himself in a bit of trouble in February when he threatened to "punch him [Trump] in the face," while talking on The View. Recently, he followed up his violent rant with a childish quote calling Trump's policies "bullsh*t.”
On Monday night, De Niro went full Meryl Streep by turning his an acceptance speech in New York into a political tirade. He stepped up to the podium to accept The Lincoln Center’s Chaplin Award and decided that it was the right time to criticize Trump's OLD budget proposal.
Despite NOT becoming law, De Niro apparently has some issues Trump's first proposal that suggested cutting funds to the National Endowment for the Arts.
“The budget proposal, among its other draconian cuts to life-saving and life-enhancing programs, eliminates the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting,” said De Niro.
He continued to mock Trump saying that the President claimed the arts funds only went to the liberal elite. “This is what they now call an ‘alternative fact,'” he said. “I call it what it is: bullsh*t.”
WRONG! De Niro neglected to mention that Trump changed his proposal this month and it now has ample funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and it increased the budgets for the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities by a massive $2 million each.
Do the Hollywood elite do research? Maybe if he stepped away from CNN for a moment he could develop an up-to-date and honest opinion about the President. De Niro's rant is already being attacked by conservatives and debunked by truthful media outlets.
SHARE if you think it's time for De Niro to give up the threats and leave his gangster personality for the big screen.
