The White House opened it’s doors on Easter to welcome dozens of families for the annual “Easter Egg Roll.”
Despite some setbacks from the rain, Melania and Donald’s party went off without a hitch! Almost 21,000 guests came to celebrate the Holiday and see the First Family along with dozens of costumed characters like the Easter Bunny, the Ninja Turtles, and Dr. Seuss’s Cat In The Hat.
There were numerous events for the little ones on the White House South Lawn including craft tables, storytime, and the Easter Egg Roll headlining as the main event. The party is one of the earliest White House traditions rumored to have started in the 1870s by Dolley Madison.
Donald Trump helped kickoff the day with wife Melania and youngest son Barron with a statement ensuring the country is set to be “stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before”.
He later called the day a “wonderful tradition” and congratulated and thanked his wife who has “been working on this for a long time, to make it perfect.” The President also joked with the crowd before the Egg Roll saying the kids would certainly put on a show, “I’ve seen those kids, and they’re highly, highly competitive.”
Donald took some time to sit with newly turned eleven-year-old Barron Trump at the crafts table. The President helped the children write greeting cards to the troops while White House Press Secretary and Melania Trump hosted story time.
Spicer read How to Catch the Easter Bunny followed by Melania who read Party Animals by Kathie Lee Gifford which told a tale about how to celebrate animals differences.
