Whether you’ve seen them or not, there are thousands of strikingly beautiful and awe-inspiring places around the world. But often times, many of the best go virtually unnoticed. From a range of variously colored mountains and gorgeous waterfalls to spectacular caves and architecture, get a first look at dozens of sites that many don’t know exist.
1Tulip Fields, Holland
Every springtime between the months of March and May, tulip bulbs in bright reds, pinks, and yellows bloom here, making for a must-see experience. In fact, there are more than seven million bulbs from 800 varieties of tulips that bloom this time of year. There are also numerous events you can attend with the family, including flower shows, art exhibitions, and parades!
2Serra de Estrela Mountain, Portugal
Oh, just another lake with a massive hole in it! The Serra de Estrela is the highest mountain range in mainland Portugal, and it’s also home to a hydroelectric system of dams, part of which is the Covão dos Conchs with its giant hole. It may look like a natural sinkhole, but it was actually constructed as a spillway that acts as a water diversion. Regardless, it’s still a spectacular site to see!
